How the tanning times are calculated, what happens to your photo, and what Sunlit will not do.

What is Sunlit?
Sunlit is a sun-safety and tanning timer for iPhone and iPad, built by Vidus6. It reads the live UV index for your location, works out how long your skin type can take before it burns, and times the session for you with turn-over alerts and sunscreen reminders.
How does Sunlit know how long I can stay in the sun?
Sunlit combines the live UV index from Open-Meteo with your Fitzpatrick skin type, the SPF you applied and how much skin you expose. The time-to-burn calculation uses the WHO UV Index definition (UVI 1 = 25 mW/m² of erythemally-weighted irradiance) and published Minimal Erythema Dose ranges per skin type.
Is Sunlit free?
Sunlit is free to download, and the tanning timer, vitamin D log and UV alerts are free to use. Sunlit Premium is an optional subscription that adds the full 10-day UV forecast, unlimited AI skin scans with history, and the advanced and beach-day session routines.
Is the AI skin scan accurate, and where does my photo go?
The scan is an estimate, not a diagnosis, and you can adjust the result by hand. Your photo is sent once to Google Gemini through Firebase AI Logic for a single analysis; Vidus6 does not store it on any server, the result and a copy of the photo stay on your device, and you can delete them at any time.
Does Sunlit replace sunscreen or a dermatologist?
No. Sunlit is a wellness tool, not a medical device, and it cannot see your skin, your medication or your medical history. UV damages every skin type and no exposure time is risk-free. Talk to a doctor before sunbathing if you take photosensitizing medication, have a skin condition or a history of skin cancer, or notice a change in a mole.
Does Sunlit work without location access?
Yes. If you would rather not share your location, search for any city by name and pin it — Sunlit uses that place for its UV data instead. It is also how you check the UV somewhere you are travelling to.
Which devices and languages does Sunlit support?
Sunlit runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS 13 or later. The whole interface is translated into 39 languages, including English, Turkish, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Russian.
Can I cancel Sunlit Premium?
Yes. Sunlit Premium is billed through your Apple ID and you can cancel it any time in the App Store subscription settings. You keep premium access until the end of the period you already paid for.
